Power of Failure
Power of Failure
We often admire the last step—Success.
But we forget the broken steps beneath it—Doubt, Mistakes, Hardwork, Rejections, and Setbacks.
Failure isn’t the opposite of success. It’s the foundation of it.
Here’s a reflection on why we need to look at failure differently — not with shame, but with respect.
Sweet taste of Success
We all want to succeed in life. The sweet taste of success after putting in the hardwork, sweat, blood, tears, is unmatched. And rightfully so.
We worship winners, quote their journeys, and cite their achievements to motivate ourselves and others.
Success means we are growing up in life.
But success is not the only step which helps us grow in life.
Ladder of Growth
Success is in fact the last step in the ladder of growth. All the other steps are made of learning, experiences, setbacks - all of which arise from the failures.
That’s why success, when seen on the ladder of growth, often appears glorified.
Success tells us what to do. Failure, on the other hand, tells us what not to do. And that makes all the difference.
Yet, failure is looked down upon in our society—treated as a weakness, a shame, something to hide.
Yes, failures are hard to handle. They are demotivating. They can break us sometimes.
But failure deserves more attention than success. Because every failure is a stepping stone for growth.
Why is Failure important
Only when we reject what doesn’t work, can we move towards what truly does.
Sometimes, success comes effortlessly—by luck, timing, or privilege. Such success is difficult to repeat or sustain.
But failure? It teaches every time.
Every failure makes us:
- Wiser – by shifting focus from the temporary obstacle to the deeper goal.
- Mentally stronger – by building resilience through struggle.
- Grounded – by showing us that hard work often goes unnoticed, and that true value lies not in applause but in persistence.
These three qualities—wisdom, resilience, and humility—don’t just build character. They uphold harmony in society.
Because those who learn from failure are the ones who see beyond appearances.
They stay when the world walks away.
They rise when the world collapses.
And in their quiet strength, we find the seeds of a better future.
Final Reflection
Success and Failure are equally important in life. We don’t ask for failures, but we should not get dejected by them either. It is important to pause and reflect both in success as well as failure on what went right and what went wrong. Because that wisdom is what makes us complete.
