The misunderstood idea of Love

Love is the most undervalued and misunderstood truth in today’s world.

Most people glorify only that form of love which is driven by physical attraction toward someone else.

But love is not limited to that alone. Parental love, sibling love, love for nature, love for God—all of these are also forms of love. Yet no one talks about them. This love is taken for granted.

Only the kind of love where the mind is ruled by physical attraction and pleasure, is glorified in the world.

And that is because hardly anyone truly understands what love actually is.

What is Love?

I thought I knew love. But my love was always wanting — even from God.

God showed me what true love is:
By accepting me with all my faults
By giving without expecting
By staying — even when I had abandoned HIM.

That is true love. Love which only HE is capable of.

Love is not:

• Physical attraction
• An emotional high
• A poetic expression
• A dramatic act

Love is:

• Sacrifice
• Giving without expecting
• Unconditional acceptance
• A conscious, silent choice
• Something that happens within, not something we display outside

People write poems and posts, share reels and songs in the name of love.

But all this is just outward expression. True love quietly resides deep in the heart.

Signs of True Love

If one truly wishes to understand love, they can reflect on these three simple principles:

1. Love is unconditional acceptance.

You accept the one you love for who they are—their strengths, their flaws, their good, their bad.
There is no expectation to change them.

Because, there are no conditions in love.
When love is based on conditions, it is not love at all—it is merely a contract.

2. Love is selfless because it is about giving, not expecting.

People often give gifts in love—but true giving is not based on what you want to offer.
It is based on what the other person truly needs.
And even if they reject your offering, you continue to love them—without resentment.

That is true selflessness.
Because in love, there is no "Me"—only "You", the one I love.

3. Love is a conscious choice, not a fleeting emotion.

To accept someone fully—with their imperfections—and to keep giving for their happiness,
without expecting anything in return, that is not emotional impulse.
That is a conscious decision.

True love stays. Even when there is every reason to walk away, it waits silently, patiently.
Not because it is weak, but because it has chosen to stay.

When you evaluate the “love” you feel, be it for your soulmate, your parents, siblings, or even for God—through these three principles, you may begin to see where your love falls short.

And then ask: Is this really love?

Love is what we make happen

When you truly understand love, you will realise this entire creation exists because of love.
You came into this world for love. Not just to receive it. Not just to fulfil your desires. But to give love. To spread love.

Because love is not what happens to us. Love is what we make happen.

Radha is Love

Radha is the embodiment of that Love. Not just Krishna’s love, but the Love that pervades the entire Universe.

When you understand this, you will understand Radha.

Until then, Radha will remain just a gopī to you, with whom Krishna performed the Rās Leelā.
